Back in November 2013 our home in Spain was ransacked and burgled.
The thieves had the luxury of time to literally cherry pick through all of
our possessions and stole everything of any value including our solar electric
system, the water boiler off of the wall and even our nut crackers!

Traveling back from the UK we arrived at the house in the dark and
walked into the worst case scenario. Police reports filed, forensics done
we contacted our insurance company - the real fun was yet to come.
Having been cleared out we were then given the run around from thieving
insurers who tried everything within their power to avoid settling our claim.

Yesterday I finally received confirmation that funds had been transfered
in settlement of our claim. No reasons were given for the delay or
for the compromised settlement figure which I was bullied into accepting.

Lessons learned: Always over insure - if you have estimated contents
to the value of 20K insure for at least 30K and never trust a British expat
in Spain!! most are crooks...

Hasta la vista.
